Inspiration 5/24/11

Make Me Over

"Make me over", a phrase we should use everyday.  We should pray that God makes us over and renew in a sound mind and cleansed heart.

When You Pick UP Your Cross, Some Things Fall DOWN.

http://www.cityeastchurch.com.au/

When you pick up your own Cross and follow Jesus with your whole heart, things that are not like Him have to fall down.  When you follow Him, the mess that follows you has to fall off because "He that is in me is greater than He that is in the world". 1 John 4:4

Also, when you pick up your Cross you have to deny yourself. It is not longer about what "I" want or how "I" feel. It's all about what God wants for us. Don't allow your flesh to overtake your spirit because the spirit and flesh are always at war.

This paragraph from
http://www.sermoncentral.com/ "Take up your Cross"  explains taking up your cross.
"When Jesus spoke of the cross He spoke of death: dying to ourselves that we might follow Christ wherever He leads us. He is a picture of literally giving everything up for Him even our lives. Remember Jesus in the Garden saying, “not my will but thine will be done.?"

"And he personally bore our sins in his own body on the cross, so that we might be dead to sin and be alive to all that is good." 1 Pet 2:24

When Is The Right Time To Pray?

istockphoto.com

Is it in just in the morning, maybe before a meal, requests, or at night? All of these are great times to pray but are these the "right" times to pray? You often hear during troubling times, this is the perfect time to pray.  True enough it is, but I believe there is no such thing as the right or perfect time to pray.  Prayer is our communication with God and this is something that should be done often throughout the day.

Today's technology allows us to communicate with people all over the world.  We have cell phones, Facebook, chat rooms, Twitter, email, web camera sites and etc.  Most of us spend lots of time on some on these sites just communicating with people.  How much time do we communicate with the one who wakes us up, feeds and puts clothes on us, and keeps us safe with His grace and mercy? I will admit, I asked myself the same thing and was ashamed to say I spent more time communicating with people on social medias and talked with God at night, before a meal and for requests; that's the only time He heard from me.  Those times for me, were the right times to pray.  Nothing is wrong with any of the social medias and how we communicate with others, but the time we spend with God should outweigh the time we spend on these sites.

I now realize everything I have and everything i'm going to have comes from Him and the only way to achieve these things, is to talk to him. While dating or marriage, if you don't communicate with  one another, how does it work and how will you two grow?  This is exactly how God operates, we can't get to know Him if we don't talk to him and we most certainly won't grow spiritually without prayer.

Prayer is a necessary tool in seeking God's Heart.  He is omnipresent (with us at all times).  There is not a right time to talk to him.  He wants us to talk to him daily.

"If you have a need, then it is the time to pray and seek God's face. You may have a special place where you commune with God; some call it a prayer closet. There is no right or wrong time in which to pray. Just make sure you have a pure heart with pure motives so you can seek God." praylivelove.com
"Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God may open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; in order that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.” Colossians 4:2-3

Seeking God's Own Heart

Seeking God's Heart

Seeking God's heart is something that we all should have to desire of doing.  Hebrews 11:6 says, "For whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him."
This scripture tells us that we must believe in and seek God in order to receive His blessings.

Seeking God means spending time with Him and understanding who He is.  Spending time and seeking Him requires Prayer, Reading, and Fasting
  • Prayer is the communications between you and God.  Find a quiet place where God has your undivided attention. Tell Him everything and ask Him to reveal things in your life that are a hindrance.  Also, allow God to speak after you're done speaking.  My Pastor stated last night at bible study that God is a gentleman, He will allow you to talk but when you're done allow Him to speak and reveal things to you.
2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land"

  • Reading God's word allows you to strengthen your faith in God. The Bible tells us exactly who God is and what He requires of us.....DAILY.  The Bible is our manual to life. Mediate daily on his words and allow Him to speak through the scriptures.
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness"
  • Fasting and prayer go hand in hand.  Fasting allows us to deny our flesh and hear God's voice more clearly, kind of like a spiritual reviving and can also result in a breakthrough.  Many people fast to hear God’s voice and create a stronger bond with God.  I will honestly say that fasting has brought about a huge change in me and my church family.  I am able to see things clearly with spiritual eyes and my faith in God has increased tremendously.

Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Continue to seek God by Praying, Reading, and Fasting! Watch how He blesses you abundantly above all you could ask for!

Be Blessed! God Loves You!
